These terms (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Stonewatch (“Stonewatch,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), based in Vaughan, ON, Canada. They apply when you use getstonewatch.com, preorder Stonewatch Home, use Stonewatch Essentials, or accept a Stonewatch Home license. By submitting a preorder or using the software, you agree to these Terms.
If you buy through Paddle, you also enter a separate purchase agreement with the applicable Paddle entity under Paddle’s Buyer Terms. If mandatory consumer law gives you rights that cannot be waived, those rights continue to apply.

1. Eligibility and authority
You must be legally able to enter this agreement. If you use or preorder Stonewatch for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes it. The product is not offered where its use or sale would be unlawful.
2. The product
Stonewatch is self-hosted network video recorder software intended to run on hardware you control. Stonewatch does not provide cloud video storage or professional security monitoring and is not an emergency service. You remain responsible for your hardware, cameras, network, storage capacity, backups, power, physical security, and internet access.
Essentials
Stonewatch Essentials permits up to two active cameras without a paid license. It has no Stonewatch account requirement and no recurring fee.
Home
Stonewatch Home removes the software camera-count limit for one activated recorder, subject to the performance and capacity of your hardware. Each preordered quantity is a separate one-recorder license. The approved offer is a one-time USD 99 base price per license, excluding applicable tax, and includes Stonewatch v1.x updates. It is not a subscription and has no renewal fee.
“Perpetual” means the license has no scheduled expiration. It does not promise that every operating system, third-party camera, hardware platform, dependency, or online service will remain available forever, or include a future paid major version. Refunds, chargebacks, fraud, material breach, or credential compromise may result in revocation or replacement as described below.
3. Software license
Subject to these Terms, Stonewatch grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable license to install and use the software for your own household or internal business recording purposes. A Home credential may have only one active recorder binding at a time. You may deactivate it and move it to another recorder, or ask support to reset an unavailable recorder binding after preorder-holder verification.
You may not sell, rent, sublicense, publish, or share an activation credential; evade camera or binding limits; use one Home license concurrently on multiple recorders; interfere with licensing or security controls; falsely represent entitlement or payment state; or use the software to violate law or another person’s rights. Rights in open-source components remain governed by their accompanying licenses; those licenses control if they conflict with this paragraph for the relevant component.
4. Preorders through Paddle
Paddle is Stonewatch’s authorized reseller and Merchant of Record. You place and pay for the preorder through Paddle, while Stonewatch licenses and supports the software under these Terms. Paddle handles payment authorization, payment-method data, applicable tax, receipts and invoices, payment questions, and buyer refund processing.
Stonewatch Home has not reached general release. A preorder reserves a license for beta or release fulfillment; it is not a recurring subscription. Any availability estimate shown before payment is an estimate rather than a guarantee. If availability materially changes, Stonewatch will provide an update through the preorder email and applicable refund options remain available through Paddle.
The pricing page states the USD 99 one-time base price before tax. Paddle shows the final product, quantity, accepted discount, tax, currency, and total before you authorize payment. A promotion applies only when Paddle accepts it and may be restricted by product, quantity, redemption count, customer eligibility, or expiration. We do not promise that any promotion will remain available.
You must provide accurate checkout details and an email address you control. Paddle may reject or cancel a transaction under its terms. We do not independently invoice you or collect payment-card numbers. Receipts, invoices, transaction history, and approved credit/refund documents are provided through Paddle’s confirmation email and buyer/customer portal.
5. Delivery and activation
After Paddle reports a completed eligible preorder, Stonewatch sends one activation credential and a nonsecret support reference for each preordered license when it becomes eligible for beta or release fulfillment. Delivery can take time if Paddle, email, or licensing services retry. Check the preorder email and spam folder before contacting support.
Keep the activation credential confidential and retain the support reference separately. Support will ask for the preorder email and support reference, never the credential. The credential is used to activate one recorder and periodically validate the entitlement. A recorder may use the documented temporary offline grace behavior after a recent successful validation, but sustained operation during a service or network outage is not guaranteed beyond that behavior.
If a recorder is unavailable but you still possess the credential, verified support can reset the old binding. If a credential is lost or compromised, verified support retires the old generation before issuing and emailing a replacement. There is no public self-service recovery page at launch. If you no longer control the preorder email, support may require additional evidence and may be unable to recover the license where ownership cannot be established safely.
6. Refunds and payment disputes
Paddle administers buyer refunds under its current Refund Policy, including mandatory consumer rights that apply in your location. Requests can be made through Paddle’s receipt/buyer support channels. You may also contact support@getstonewatch.com about a product or delivery problem so we can try to resolve it and provide relevant information to Paddle.
An approved full refund, chargeback, or payment reversal for a license causes that exact entitlement to be revoked and the recorder to return safely to Essentials behavior. A partial adjustment does not silently change an entitlement; it is reviewed. Nothing in these Terms limits a non-waivable right or remedy for a product that is faulty, misdescribed, or not fit for a legally required purpose.
7. Your responsibilities
You control what and where you record. You are responsible for complying with surveillance, privacy, audio-recording, employment, property, data-protection, notice, consent, retention, and disclosure laws that apply to your installation. Do not point cameras where recording is unlawful, use Stonewatch to harass or discriminate, conceal required notices, or collect more information than you are permitted to collect.
You are also responsible for installing security updates, restricting access to the recorder, choosing strong local authentication, protecting exports and backups, securing cameras and networks, and testing that the installation meets your needs. Do not rely on Stonewatch as the only means to prevent injury, fire, intrusion, data loss, or another emergency.
8. Support and availability
Product and license-delivery support is available at support@getstonewatch.com. Billing, invoice, payment-method, tax, and refund support is provided by Paddle through its receipt and buyer support channels. Unless we separately agree in writing, no guaranteed response time, service level, or uninterrupted hosted licensing availability applies.
We may maintain, secure, replace, or discontinue website and licensing infrastructure. We will use reasonable care to preserve valid perpetual entitlement records and recovery capability, but online services can experience outages. Local Essentials operation and the documented Home grace behavior are designed to reduce—but cannot eliminate—that risk.
9. Ownership and feedback
Stonewatch and its licensors retain the software, website, brand, documentation, and other intellectual-property rights not expressly granted to you. These Terms grant a license, not ownership of the product. If you voluntarily send feedback, you allow us to use it without restriction or payment, but you retain ownership of any original material you submit.
10. Warranties and liability
Nothing here excludes a warranty, remedy, or liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude. Subject to that rule, the software and website are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that every camera, codec, operating system, hardware configuration, network, detection result, recording, or hosted dependency will work without interruption or error.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stonewatch is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential loss, or for lost profits, lost business, lost recordings, data loss, or failure of a security outcome. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stonewatch’s aggregate liability arising from a paid Home license will not exceed the amount paid for the affected license. These limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence where it cannot be limited, personal injury caused by negligence, or another liability that law makes non-excludable.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Stonewatch at any time. We may suspend hosted access or revoke a paid entitlement where Paddle reports a refund, chargeback, or fraudulent/invalid transaction; a credential is compromised; you materially breach these Terms; or action is reasonably necessary to protect users, systems, or legal compliance. Where appropriate, we will try to give notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.
Provisions that by their nature should survive—such as ownership, payment/refund consequences, warranty limits, liability, and dispute terms—continue after termination. Revocation of Home does not prevent use of Essentials where the software and law otherwise permit it.
12. General terms and contact
Our Privacy Notice explains personal-information handling. These Terms, applicable open-source licenses, and any checkout terms shown by Paddle form the relevant agreements for the website, preorder, and product license. If one provision is unenforceable, the rest remain effective. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign a Home license or these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a genuine business transfer subject to applicable law.
We may update these Terms for future use to reflect product, legal, or provider changes. The version accepted for an existing preorder continues to govern that preorder unless a lawful update is required or you agree otherwise. Material updates will receive notice where required.
Before filing a claim, please contact us and give both sides a reasonable opportunity to resolve it informally.
